Aura 2019, the best Costers del Segre
This wine from the Clos Pons de L’Albagés winery was proclaimed yesterday the best of the DO in 2023.
The Castell de Gardeny in Lleida hosted the awards ceremony last night. Aura 2019 from Clos Pons winery in L’Albagés winery was proclaimed yesterday the best wine of Costers del Segre 2023 after winning the second edition of the competition organized by this Designation of Origin, with the support of the Diputació de Lleida and the technical coordination of the Premis Vinari. This red took the most important recognition of the gala held last night at the Castell de Gardeny and also won the gold medal in the category of Best Crianza Reds.
This is a long-aged organic red Collection wine made in our Albagés vineyard in the south of Lleida. It is a wine with a great balance between expressiveness and elegance that comes from the organic vineyards of the central valley of the Clos Pons estate, at an altitude of 460 meters. The aromas of candied fruit blend in harmony with the perfumes of its aging in oak barrels, with notes of forest fruits, spices and undergrowth. On the palate it is delicate with a silky texture and very pleasant, ideal to accompany white meats, blue fish, sea bass, and cow and sheep cheeses.
As for Crianza white wines, the second prize also went to a wine from CELLER CLOS PONS, Cingles 2018.
